The Conscious Farmers
Welcome! We’re Derek and Kirrily Blomfield, and together with our boys, Patrick and Reilly, we raise nourishing grass fed beef on our family farm, guided by a passion for healthy eating and holistic care for the land.
Our goal is to provide nutritious, chemical free beef—rich in healthy fats, antioxidants, and trace minerals—for your family and ours. This commitment means every step in our process focuses on animal welfare and delivering the purest food possible.
We are deeply invested in the health of our soil, biodiversity, and environment, always managing our farm so future generations can enjoy and thrive on this land. Using holistic grazing principles, we naturally regenerate pastures, improve water retention, and promote tree growth and biodiversity—creating a resilient landscape for all.

Choosing Chemical Free

We care deeply for you—our customer—as well as for our cows and the land we steward. That’s why our grass fed beef always contains:
- NO GMO’s (genetically modified organisms).
- NO antibiotics
- NO hormone growth promotants
- NO chemicals or pesticides
- NO preservatives
It’s pure nourishment, supporting both body and mind.
Our commitment to chemical free farming is about your family’s well-being—free from unwanted additives and residues. Our cows graze on diverse pastures filled with many plant species, giving them the nutrients they need for good health without the nasties they don’t. These practices produce the superb taste our customers love.
About Our Farm
Our family has been caring for this land for 70 years, since 1946 when Derek’s grandfather first arrived. Spanning 987 hectares of scenic hills and fertile black soil plains, our farm is a haven for native wildlife—koalas, bearded dragon lizards, red-necked wallabies, and over 80 species of birds, from wedge-tailed eagles to the brown songlark, whose call fills our landscape. We believe strong biodiversity is vital for a healthy, resilient farm.
Derek’s father, Sandy, still lives here and is a key part of our work every day. Alongside our cattle, we share our home with two cheerful dogs, beautiful black Australorp hens that provide fresh free-range eggs, three guinea pigs, and a thriving vegetable patch.
Protecting and nurturing this rich diversity, both in the land and its creatures, has always guided our approach—ensuring the farm thrives for generations to come.

Ethically Caring For Our Cows
We care for our cows ethically and humanely, allowing them to graze freely and peacefully in open pastures. Our approach is rooted in Bud Williams' low stress stock handling principles, which focus on understanding each cow’s comfort zone—much like respecting personal space for people. By being aware of this ‘bubble’, we manage our cattle calmly and avoid causing them unnecessary unease.
Our cows are never treated like commodities. We handle them with genuine respect and gratitude, acknowledging the nourishment they offer to us and our customers. This mindful, low-stress environment helps our cows stay healthy and content, ensuring the highest animal welfare standards on our farm.
It All Comes Down to Passion
For us, it’s all about our passion for conscious farming and delivering wholesome, nourishing food. Every day, we wake up knowing we’re doing right by our family, our land, our cows, and most importantly, you—our customers.
There’s no job more important than producing nutritious food for people. We hold ourselves accountable to these principles and warmly welcome you to visit our farm. Just give us a call to arrange a tour—we’d love to show you around!

Thank you so much for supporting us since the beginning of The Conscious Farmer brand. It’s been a journey of continuous improvement, and we truly appreciate the feedback you’ve shared along the way.
To some other special people
We are also grateful to those who have spent time with us on the farm, capturing photos of us, our lovely cows, our beautiful land, and the produce we cherish.
Our stunning farm images come from the talented photographers and friends Sally Alden and Jeff Tan, as well as some captured by ourselves.
Our multi-talented friend Megan Trousdale spent a month cooking and photographing our delicious grass fed beef in her kitchen just outside Nundle, NSW. Maybe if we ask nicely, Megan will share some of her scrumptious recipes!
